Today, Ellis Moving & Storage operates from 1580 Columbia Street in North Vancouver as a fully licensed, BBB Accredited, Atlas Van Lines-affiliated moving company and proud member of the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM). Meet Mark Hirschi — Owner & Operator, Ellis Moving & Storage
My name is Mark Hirschi, and I am the owner and operator of Ellis Moving & Storage.
I came to this business as someone who had already spent years in the moving industry — most notably as owner of Salmon’s Moving and Storage in Richmond, BC, one of British Columbia’s longest-established moving companies, founded in 1913 and affiliated with Atlas Van Lines. I understand what it takes to run a moving company with integrity. I also understand what it costs a family when a move goes wrong.
When the opportunity arose to acquire Ellis Moving & Storage in August 2025, I saw something worth building on: a company with a genuine reputation in North Vancouver, a crew that cared about the work, and a community that had trusted the Ellis name for over four decades. What I also saw was a company ready to become something more — more professional, more modern, and more capable of serving the North Shore the way this community deserves.
That is what we are building. The Ellis name stays. The commitment to this neighbourhood stays. And the standard of care gets raised.
Family first, faith first — the values behind the business
Outside of Ellis and Salmon’s, I am a husband to Karla and father to three children — Wolfe, Beau, and Mila — all of whom call the North Shore home. My approach to business is shaped by the same values I try to live by at home: do the work right, be honest with people, and show up when it matters most.
I am also the co-founder and host of the Movified Podcast and Movified Nation — a professional development community for moving company owners across North America — and a TEDx and public speaker. I bring that same mindset of continuous improvement and industry leadership to the way Ellis Moving & Storage operates every day.
The Ellis Moving & Storage Story — North Vancouver Since 1980
Ellis Moving & Storage was founded in North Vancouver in 1980, growing out of the same tradition of family-owned, service-first moving that has defined the best companies in this industry for generations. For over 45 years, the Ellis name has meant something on the North Shore: a crew that arrives prepared, equipment that is properly maintained, and a team that treats your belongings with the same care they would give their own.
In August 2025, Mark Hirschi acquired Ellis Moving & Storage and began a deliberate process of modernisation — introducing new operations technology, expanding the sales and coordination team, and raising the standard of every client touchpoint. The mission has not changed. The capability has grown.
Today, Ellis Moving & Storage operates seven days a week, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, serving homeowners, families, businesses, and organisations across Metro Vancouver and British Columbia.
