Our job starts with collecting the bicycles from the athletes at the registration. The race begins at Alice lake: by using our larger moving trucks and vans, we swiftly transport approximately 200 race bikes to the swim/bike transition. The Ellis team especially enjoys helping out with the food preparation and volunteering at the food stations.
Weeks before the event, we were a bit concerned that the water was going to be a bit too chilly. Then a few days before the race, the weather shifted and became scorching hot.
And as fate would have it, conditions turned out to be super ideal for the race! The water temperature was right below the wetsuit threshold which made the triathletes really happy! The morning was a bit overcast, so the searing temperatures of the preceding days did not impact the athletes at all.
We especially enjoy this race because it is a unique opportunity to celebrate with the Squamish community and to bring together all the wonderful families for an exciting fun run day. At Ellis, we offer a heart felt congratulations to the amazing athletes who come from all over BC. Such an impressive calibre of triathletes! A warm thank you goes to the organizing committee who volunteer mega hours to make this annual event a huge success. See everyone again next year!
